Introduction to Attractions
The National Palace Museum, completed in 1965, features a Chinese palace-style architecture. It houses three floors of exhibition space and a teahouse named "San Xi Tang." The museum holds the world's largest collection of Chinese art treasures, amounting to over 650,000 pieces, earning it the reputation as a "treasury of Chinese culture." Besides its rich collection, the National Palace Museum offers professional guided tours and regularly hosts a variety of artifact study courses, special lectures, and traveling exhibitions. It also publishes over a hundred types of publications and albums, making it a must-visit destination for travelers in Taiwan.
The Beitou Hot Spring Museum, located in Taipei, is a cultural heritage site showcasing the history of the Beitou hot springs. Originally built in 1913 during the Japanese colonial era, the museum was once a public bathhouse. The building features a blend of Japanese and Western architectural styles, with exhibits on the hot spring culture, local geology, and historical artifacts. Visitors can explore the beautifully preserved wooden structure and learn about the development of Beitou as a hot spring destination.
Beitou Thermal Valley, also known as Hell Valley, is a popular tourist attraction in Taipei. It features a natural hot spring with temperatures reaching up to 100°C (212°F). The valley is known for its steaming, sulfuric waters and picturesque, misty landscape. Visitors can enjoy the unique geological scenery, learn about the hot spring's history, and relax in nearby public hot spring facilities.
Dadaocheng Wharf, once a bustling hub for goods from mainland China, remains steeped in history with its traditional red-brick houses and vintage streets. These buildings, featuring arcades to withstand Taiwan's rainy climate and decorated with Western-style facades, reflect a unique blend of Eastern and Western architecture. Today, the area retains its historical charm, offering a perfect setting for a weekend stroll in traditional attire to experience its rich heritage.
